Quilt Market Recap #2

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

If you read our first Market recap then you'll know just how overwhelming the whole Market-scene was. But with that being said, we had such a great time and can't wait to go back next year. So we might as well just jump right in and pick up where we left off ...

Market Recap #2

Tina Givens booth for her latest fabric collection Haven's Edge was gorgeous. How could you not fall immediately in love?!

Patty Young and her husband, Jon got into the Halloween spirit by dressing up in these fantastic costumes. Oh and Sanctuary, her latest collection is fabulous! Can't wait until we get it in stock.
Keeping with the vintage theme, we found this great new fabric collection, Groovy, by Studio e Fabrics. I definitely think we need to find it in our budget to get this fun new collection. If you agree, please let us know in the comments below. A little encouragement never hurts ;)
We also ran into the super sweet Felicity Miller and her Gypsy collection. Felicity had requested some of our Pretty & Preppy travel mugs made using her fabric to be used in her booth. It was such an honor that she wanted to display them and then she turned around and bought them all in the end. Score! We just loved hanging out and talking to her.
Jan DaCinto (Daisy Janie) was there showing off her Geo Grand and new Shades of Grey collections. She had her Dance Floor quilt on display and it was gorgeous!
A fabric collection we definitely signed up for was Piece O' Cake Designs' Daisy & Dots. We think this will be a fun new collection for the shop.
We found the Abbey Lane Quilts booth so inspiring! They had some fantastic bags and quilts made using the fabrics we love. We picked up some patterns and have more on order so stayed tuned and we'll get them added to the shop just as quick as we can. This one is called Penny Lane and is made using the Fandango collection from Kate Spain.
Bari J. was so cute and such a hoot to hang out with. Her Country Lane booth was full of very pretty quilts and handbags. We also learned that Bari J. is teaming up with Slice Fabrique to create custom designs for their handheld cutters. Sweet!
We then stumbled upon Cynthia Mann and the Birch Fabrics booth featuring the Circa 60 Beach Mod and Dan Stiles Marine fabric collections. It was great talking business with a fellow fabric store owner we have admired for so long.
We ran out of time to sit down with Alexander Henry and discuss their upcoming lines but did catch a quick glimpse of Larkspur and it looks fabulous!
Another fabric manufacturer we ran out of time to sit down with was Enchino. They have such a great fall collection out right now. We may have missed this one but I don't think we'll miss them again.
We had not heard of Rob Appell before attending the Michael Miller Schoolhouse class on Friday. He was so enthusiastic when talking about his Endangered Species Quilt Collection. You can tell he loves what he does and after hearing him explain how he setup the quilt patterns, I honestly think I might be able to make one. They are stunning and proceeds got to help protect the animals.
Last but certainly not least in our Market Recap is Jane Sassaman and her new Garden Divas collection. We fell in love with her previous collection Prairie Gothic so much so in fact that I ordered some and have yet to use it or share it with mom. Evil I know.
So while this may conclude our quickfire, lightning round of Quilt Market recaps, we are far from done. Next we'll start going a bit more in depth with a ton of more pictures. Oh and did we mention the giveaways?? Amy Butler, Tina Givens, Two Peas in a Pod, Lila Tueller, Pink Fig Patterns just to name a few. You will definitely want to stayed tuned for those posts!
