Quilt Market Recap - Two Peas in a Pod / Pink Fig Patterns & a Giveaway

Monday, November 22, 2010

Congratulations to #69 Diane and #45 Chigger Hill Cottage! Y'all have won our Pink Fig Patterns and Two Peas in a Pod sewing pattern giveaway! We will be in touch shortly. :)

How is it even possible that Quilt Market was over 3 weeks ago? And don't even get me started on the fact that Thanksgiving is Thursday ... THIS THURSDAY!! Insane. I can't even think about it without bringing on a panic attack. So I figure if I keep blogging about quilt market, then I can just pretend like we just got back and that holiday season is not starting this week. Yea, I'll just keep telling myself that. :)

So, who's ready for another Quilt Market Recap post? Well then, let's get started .... how about we turn our attention to some fabulous pattern designers.

One of the first booths we came across and just absolutely fell in love with was Trish Preston from Two Peas in a Pod and her Sprout patterns.

Seriously, how cute is Trish? And her patterns .... FABULOUS! We absolutely loved them and snatched up some for the shop. I'm dying to make the Mary Beth Messenger Bag, the Ava Bag, and the Pocket Full of Posies Apron for me.

Another pattern designer we love and ran into at Market was Chelsea Anderson of Pink Fig Patterns. She had such a cute booth setup.
Chelsea had three new super cute patterns at Market this fall ... the Piccadilly Jumper,  the Notting Hill Skirt & T-Shirt, and an Accessories pattern that comes with patterns for a purse, belt, headband, and necklace. They were all so cute and can now be found in the shop.
I love how girly these three patterns are! If only baby Perry Margaret were a bit older ...

Now on to the best part ... we just so happened to mention our blog to Chelsea and she graciously gave us a copy of her new patterns to giveaway to our wonderful readers and when Trish found out we blogged about her, she offered up patterns as well. How sweet are they?! 3 Pink Fig Patterns and 3 Two Peas in a Pod patterns are up for grabs ... woohoo!!

With all the patterns being offered, we've decided there will be 2 winners ... the first winner will receive their choice of either the 3 new Pink Fig patterns or 3 new Two Peas in a Pod patterns. The second winner will win the other three patterns. Sweet right?!

Quilt Market Recap - Tina Givens & a Giveaway

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

Congratulations to #6 Jessica!! You've won our Tina Given's Sew Tina giveaway!!

So much gorgeousness in one place! We are such fans of Tina Givens' whimsical, beautiful prints so when we ran into her at Quilt Market, we got a little giddy. She is just as fabulous and fun as her fabrics are.

She won 2nd prize for her double booth and I must say it was lovely.
Tina was at market promoting her wonderful new book Sew Tina! 30 Cute Projects & Adorable Decor Items for Kids. If you haven't had a chance to check out this book yet, it is FABULOUS! Full of fun, playful projects for kids ranging in age from tiny baby to around 8.
Tina has such a whimsical, magical side to her and it completely shows in her patterns. She takes the everyday items and makes them glorious. At the same time though, these are fairly easy projects that won't take you days upon days to make. And I love that she admits she's not a perfectionist in her sewing and doesn't expect anyone else to be either.  Definitely my kind of sewing! Check out a few of the projects from the book ... they are adorable!
Just how awesome is Ms. Tina Givens? So awesome that she gave us a book to give away on our blog. Yep, just straight up signed it and gave it to us for one our wonderful readers. Woot!!

Quilt Market Recap - Amy Butler Soul Blossoms & Giveaway

Friday, November 5, 2010

I don't even know where to start with Amy Butler's insanely AMAZING booth at Quilt Market. OMG! Seriously ... it was un-freaking-believable! Just take a look for yourself ...

I told you!! Blow-your-mind amazing right?! Soul Blossom goodness was found everywhere you looked.
I loved all the Honey Bun Poufs and Gum Drop Pillows she had lying around. We will definitely be making some of these for our shop.
And then don't get me started on the bags ... FABULOUS! I recently bought a copy of her new book Style Stitches, 12 Easy Ways to 26 Wonderful Bags and adored so many of the bags. To be able to see so many of them in person was fantastic and definitely inspiring! Keep reading to score your very own signed copy!
Would have loved to just hang out in her booth all day.
Even more amazing than her fabulous booth was how unbelievably approachable and friendly Amy was in person! She's such a designer superstar and could easily have snubbed us as being too small to talk to but instead she invited us right in and made us feel so welcomed. Hanging out and listening to her talk about her designs and creations was  so much fun and you couldn't help but get inspired by how enthusiastic she was about her creations. It was definitely a highlight of our first market experience.
We don't have Soul Blossom in the shop yet but will in early/mid December. Woohoo! To keep you going until then, how about a signed copy of her Style Stitches book? Pretty awesome right?!
A few of the bags from the book ... LOVE them!!

Quilt Market Recap #2

Wednesday, November 3, 2010

If you read our first Market recap then you'll know just how overwhelming the whole Market-scene was. But with that being said, we had such a great time and can't wait to go back next year. So we might as well just jump right in and pick up where we left off ...

Market Recap #2

Tina Givens booth for her latest fabric collection Haven's Edge was gorgeous. How could you not fall immediately in love?!

Patty Young and her husband, Jon got into the Halloween spirit by dressing up in these fantastic costumes. Oh and Sanctuary, her latest collection is fabulous! Can't wait until we get it in stock.
Keeping with the vintage theme, we found this great new fabric collection, Groovy, by Studio e Fabrics. I definitely think we need to find it in our budget to get this fun new collection. If you agree, please let us know in the comments below. A little encouragement never hurts ;)
We also ran into the super sweet Felicity Miller and her Gypsy collection. Felicity had requested some of our Pretty & Preppy travel mugs made using her fabric to be used in her booth. It was such an honor that she wanted to display them and then she turned around and bought them all in the end. Score! We just loved hanging out and talking to her.
Jan DaCinto (Daisy Janie) was there showing off her Geo Grand and new Shades of Grey collections. She had her Dance Floor quilt on display and it was gorgeous!
A fabric collection we definitely signed up for was Piece O' Cake Designs' Daisy & Dots. We think this will be a fun new collection for the shop.
We found the Abbey Lane Quilts booth so inspiring! They had some fantastic bags and quilts made using the fabrics we love. We picked up some patterns and have more on order so stayed tuned and we'll get them added to the shop just as quick as we can. This one is called Penny Lane and is made using the Fandango collection from Kate Spain.
Bari J. was so cute and such a hoot to hang out with. Her Country Lane booth was full of very pretty quilts and handbags. We also learned that Bari J. is teaming up with Slice Fabrique to create custom designs for their handheld cutters. Sweet!
We then stumbled upon Cynthia Mann and the Birch Fabrics booth featuring the Circa 60 Beach Mod and Dan Stiles Marine fabric collections. It was great talking business with a fellow fabric store owner we have admired for so long.
We ran out of time to sit down with Alexander Henry and discuss their upcoming lines but did catch a quick glimpse of Larkspur and it looks fabulous!
Another fabric manufacturer we ran out of time to sit down with was Enchino. They have such a great fall collection out right now. We may have missed this one but I don't think we'll miss them again.
We had not heard of Rob Appell before attending the Michael Miller Schoolhouse class on Friday. He was so enthusiastic when talking about his Endangered Species Quilt Collection. You can tell he loves what he does and after hearing him explain how he setup the quilt patterns, I honestly think I might be able to make one. They are stunning and proceeds got to help protect the animals.
Last but certainly not least in our Market Recap is Jane Sassaman and her new Garden Divas collection. We fell in love with her previous collection Prairie Gothic so much so in fact that I ordered some and have yet to use it or share it with mom. Evil I know.
So while this may conclude our quickfire, lightning round of Quilt Market recaps, we are far from done. Next we'll start going a bit more in depth with a ton of more pictures. Oh and did we mention the giveaways?? Amy Butler, Tina Givens, Two Peas in a Pod, Lila Tueller, Pink Fig Patterns just to name a few. You will definitely want to stayed tuned for those posts!

Quilt Market 2010 Recap #1

Tuesday, November 2, 2010

If I had only one word to describe the whole Quilt Market experience without a doubt it would be OVERWHELMING! Overwhelming on so many different levels.

Overwhelming in the shear vastness that was Quilt Market. We're talking 23 rows (long rows) of the latest designers, fabrics, colors, designs, patterns, quilts, goodies, and gadgets. Overwhelming in the number of superstar designers in attendance who would welcome you into their booth like you were lifelong friends. Even more overwhelming when we'd tell them we're from Lola Pink and they'd know who we are. Overwhelming in the colors and designs of the fabric collections that will be coming out soon. We've got so much new stuff coming our way, it's just insane and exciting! I could go on but I think you get the point. Quilt Market 2010 was fantastically overwhelming!

We kicked off Quilt Market by attending the Schoolhouse Series of "classes" the day before market opened. We had absolutely no idea what to expect but they ended up being so much fun. We'd show up to "class" hosted by a designer, a manufacturer, an author, etc. and they would go in to detail about their upcoming products, share the inspiration behind their products, and give us retailers great tips. We attended classes hosted by Michael Miller Fabrics, Valori Wells and her mom Jean, the super sweet Deborah who wrote Stitch by Stitch, Lila Tueller, and of course Amy Butler. The classes were so much fun and so informative.

Friday night we scored invitations to the Fabric 2.0 shindig hosted by the hysterically funny Caroline of JCaroline and Michael Miller Fabrics. We had such a blast hanging out with Jenean Morrison, Jan DaCinto (Daisy Janie), Michelle Engel Bencsko and Gina Pantastico (Cloud9 Fabrics), and Melissa Averinos. It was so much fun hanging out with everyone and finally getting a chance to relax a bit before the craziness of market got into full swing.

And then Quilt Market opened ... WOW! We're actually going to break this down into several posts. We'll have two general posts just showing a snapshot of the booths and designers and then we'll have several posts that go in-depth and include fabulous giveaways! You definitely don't want to miss those posts! We scored some fabulous gifts from the designers!!

Market Recap #1
Gorgeous fabrics everywhere you looked.

The super cute Trish Preston of Two Peas in a Pod and her Sprout patterns. We bought several of her fabulous new patterns and will have them listed in the shop shortly.
The Amy Butler booth .. OMG!! Absolutely stunning. We cannot wait to get this gorgeous collection in stock.
How could you not fall in love with the Anna Maria Horner Innocent Crush booth?!
The eagerly awaited debut of Ty Pennington's first fabric collection, Impressions. We most definitely ordered some so be checking the shop for updates.
I'm so excited we picked up some of Parisville by Tula Pink. It is absolutely fantastic!
The super cute and fun Jenean Morrison showing off her latest collection Wild World. Check out the bike she covered. So adorable and creative.
We had such a great time attending Lila Tueller's Schoolhouse class and checking out her Isabella booth. Isabella should be in stock any day and we finally got our hands on the Cargo Bag pattern featured in a previous blog post. Woot!
Pat Bravo's booth showing off her Paradise and Modern Affair fabric collections was gorgeous! She made these great dream boards that gave you a peek into the inspiration behind the collections.
We loved hanging out with Michelle and Gina from Cloud9 Fabrics and their booth was adorable!
The multi-talented Kate Spain not only showed off her gorgeous new fabric collection Central Park but also her stationary, plates, aprons, gamebooks, etc. She was so warm and friendly. We just loved hanging out in her booth and chatting.
Jana from Izzy & Ivy Designs was so crazy and so much fun. An interesting tidbit ... her nickname is Lola and she talked about dying her hair pink. Jana could be our new cheerleader! We will be getting some of her patterns in stock very, very soon. Loved them!
Chelsea Anderson of Pink Fig Patterns was another super friendly pattern designer we love. We picked up the latest Pink Fig Patterns to add to the ones we already have in stock. They are so cute and so girly!
We also came across the Australian company Melly & Me and their adorable stuffed plushies. Such cute stuff! Dee-Dee is still one of our favorites!

We've only scratched the surface on what is was like to attend Quilt Market. We've got another recap coming tomorrow and then we'll go in-depth into some of the booths. Oh-yeah, there will be giveaways with those posts! Items we either bought specifically for giveaways and items signed and donated by the designers themselves. Woohoo! Our first giveaway will be an autographed copy of Amy Butler's latest book Style Stitches!! How fabulous is that?!

Stay tuned! I'm telling ya ...you don't want to miss any of the upcoming posts!
