If I had only one word to describe the whole Quilt Market experience without a doubt it would be OVERWHELMING! Overwhelming on so many different levels.
Overwhelming in the shear vastness that was Quilt Market. We're talking 23 rows (long rows) of the latest designers, fabrics, colors, designs, patterns, quilts, goodies, and gadgets. Overwhelming in the number of superstar designers in attendance who would welcome you into their booth like you were lifelong friends. Even more overwhelming when we'd tell them we're from Lola Pink and they'd know who we are. Overwhelming in the colors and designs of the fabric collections that will be coming out soon. We've got so much new stuff coming our way, it's just insane and exciting! I could go on but I think you get the point. Quilt Market 2010 was fantastically overwhelming!
We kicked off Quilt Market by attending the Schoolhouse Series of "classes" the day before market opened. We had absolutely no idea what to expect but they ended up being so much fun. We'd show up to "class" hosted by a designer, a manufacturer, an author, etc. and they would go in to detail about their upcoming products, share the inspiration behind their products, and give us retailers great tips. We attended classes hosted by Michael Miller Fabrics, Valori Wells and her mom Jean, the super sweet Deborah who wrote Stitch by Stitch, Lila Tueller, and of course Amy Butler. The classes were so much fun and so informative.
Friday night we scored invitations to the Fabric 2.0 shindig hosted by the hysterically funny Caroline of JCaroline and Michael Miller Fabrics. We had such a blast hanging out with Jenean Morrison, Jan DaCinto (Daisy Janie), Michelle Engel Bencsko and Gina Pantastico (Cloud9 Fabrics), and Melissa Averinos. It was so much fun hanging out with everyone and finally getting a chance to relax a bit before the craziness of market got into full swing.
And then Quilt Market opened ... WOW! We're actually going to break this down into several posts. We'll have two general posts just showing a snapshot of the booths and designers and then we'll have several posts that go in-depth and include fabulous giveaways! You definitely don't want to miss those posts! We scored some fabulous gifts from the designers!!

Pat Bravo's booth showing off her
Paradise and

We loved hanging out with Michelle and Gina from
Cloud9 Fabrics and their booth was adorable!
The multi-talented

Jana from Izzy & Ivy Designs was so crazy and so much fun. An interesting tidbit ... her nickname is Lola and she talked about dying her hair pink. Jana could be our new cheerleader! We will be getting some of her patterns in stock very, very soon. Loved them!
Chelsea Anderson of
Pink Fig Patterns was another super friendly pattern designer we love. We picked up the latest
Pink Fig Patterns to add to the ones we already have in stock. They are so cute and so girly!
We also came across the Australian company
Melly & Me and their adorable stuffed plushies. Such cute stuff!
Dee-Dee is still one of our favorites!
We've only scratched the surface on what is was like to attend Quilt Market. We've got another recap coming tomorrow and then we'll go in-depth into some of the booths. Oh-yeah, there will be giveaways with those posts! Items we either bought specifically for giveaways and items signed and donated by the designers themselves. Woohoo! Our first giveaway will be an autographed copy of Amy Butler's latest book Style Stitches!! How fabulous is that?!
Stay tuned! I'm telling ya ...you don't want to miss any of the upcoming posts!
